Jensen Maritime Consultants, Inc. (JMC) has been selected to develop recommendations and design packages for extending the service life of the Alaska Marine Highway System’s ferry Matanuska. The Matanuska is a SOLAS certificated roll-on roll-off passenger vessel originally built in 1963, and lengthened in 1978. New SOLAS regulations will be coming into enforcement in the new few years, resulting is design challenges for the nearly forty year old vessel. JMC will be supporting AMHS’ desire to provide cost effective, high quality ferry service for the people of Alaska. JMC is an established naval architecture firm out of Seattle, Washington and has been in business for more than forty years.
