The F/V PACIFIC SUN was originally built by Bender Welding & Machine in 1979. In 1996, the vessel was completely rebuilt at Fred Wahl Marine Construction of Reedsport, Oregon, to a JMC design. The only portions of the original vessel remaining are the engine room and forecastle house, which were sponsoned as part of the rebuilding. In addition, a new pilothouse was built, and the vessel was repowered.
