The BRISTOL LEADER was built by Master Boat Builders of Bayou La Batre, Alabama in 1998 to a design by JMC. The vessel is ABS classed A-1 AMS Fishing Service, and constructed to operate in the longline and pot fisheries. The vessel is also designed to act as a processing vessel for groundfish, salmon, and herring fisheries. The overall design represents the state-of-the-art modern catcher/freezer technology for a vessel engaging in these fisheries. The BRISTOL LEADER is similar to the ALASKAN LEADER built in 1994, but with increased crew and processing capability.
