JMC has developed a sizable clientele stemming from length and gross tonnage regulatory limits imposed on commercial fishermen in the United States. JMC has designed several 58' salmon seiners, 32' salmon gillnetters, and sponson retrofits of vessels up to and including the 125' range, particularly in Alaska. In many cases the customer has desired to put as much vessel in a limited length as possible, and JMC has put forth a design that satisfies that need, as well as having good seakeeping and hull resistance qualities.
The 65' Freezer Trawler has been developed by combining JMC's extensive design experience in large factory trawlers and small fishing vessels. The 65' trawler has 725 square feet of fully enclosed fish processing space. This vessel has a bulbous bow, and can be lengthened to 75' LOA (22.86 M) by adding a 10' midbody section. In the 65' trawler version, freezing capacity is about 5 metric tons per 16 hours, either by plate freezers or blast freezers.
